BEABA Babycook: The Original Babyfood Maker (Review & Giveaway)

BEABA LogoThroughout my pregnancy, and even when Princess P was born, I never thought about making my own baby food. I was so concentrated on breastfeeding and surviving the first few months that it never really occurred to me how much more beneficial homemade baby food would be for her. Then, when we started her on solids, I thought that the whole baby food making process would be time consuming and difficult. Little did I know that with the BEABA Babycook making baby food would be simple!
BEABA BabycookThe BEABA Babycook is a small countertop appliance that functions as a steamer, blender, warmer and defroster to prepare fresh, healthy meals for baby. Its compact design and easy-to-use settings allow you to steam cook vegetables, fruits and meats in fifteen minutes or less! And, with the Babycook’s dishwasher safe accessories, cleanup is just as simple!

Recently, we were sent a BEABA Babycook to review and I’m not going to lie, I was a bit intimated at first. After reading through the instruction booklet at least three times (and completing 3 cooking cycles using water only to clean the Babycook), I picked out a recipe from the included recipe book and dove right into making my own baby food!
Going by the recipe (for the Orange and Apple Compote), I added water up to the “2″ water level on the blending bowl. (These mark lines, which range from 1-3, are for measuring how much water to pour into the heating reservoir.) Then, I removed the lid from the heating reservoir and poured the water in, locking the lid after I was finished.
After dicing up half of an apple and a third of an orange, I placed them into the basket and then placed the basket into the bowl. I locked the bowl lid into place and then locked the whole unit onto the pedestal.
Then came the fun part – cooking! Simply turn the button to the left toward the steam symbol and you’re done! When the cooking indicator light goes out the cooking process has finished.
Since the Babycook uses steam to cook the food contents, the bowl and basket will be very hot when removed. So, to prevent burns, lift out the basket using the included spatula. Then, depending on the recipe, either pour away the cooking liquid or keep part of it to use in the puree.
For the Orange and Apple Compote recipe, I drained off the cooking liquid, placed the fruit directly into the blending bowl, added the mixing lid and bowl lid, and pureed until I got the right consistency. Super simple!
Then came the ultimate test – the taste! I removed the compote from the blending bowl and placed it into the BEABA Multiportions Container that I was also sent for review. The verdict? Awesome flavor, great consistency and a feeling of huge accomplishment!

The BEABA Babycook is truly an awesome little appliance! Not only is is simple to use, but it also allows you to prepare healthy meals for your baby in a flash. Plus, the bowl is made from unbreakable, BPA free copolyester and the cooking basket from transparent polypropylene (PP).

Also, by using the Multiportions from BEABA, you are able to freeze and store a la carte foods for baby. Comprised of seven individual ¼ cup portions, the Multiportions are made from silicone so the frozen food is easy to pop out and reheat as needed.
